Simple Shortbread Cookies

Baking cookies is comforting, and cookies are the sweetest little bit of comfort food. They are very bite-sized and personal. - Sandra Lee

These cookies are perfect for a lazy afternoon. You want to bake something but you do not want to step out. These ingredients are probably already there in your kitchen. So go ahead, and bake them.
You can use them as a base for any recipe that calls for Shortbread.

 Ingredients:

1 cup - Butter, softened
Powdered sugar. - 1/2 cup + 2 Tbsp (Keep 2 Tbsp powdered sugar aside for dusting the dough while rolling )
2 cups - All-purpose flour
2 tsp -Milk ( Optional)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Prepare two large baking trays and line it with parchment paper.
3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
4. Add flour and continue to mix until mixture forms a soft dough (it will be crumbly at first, but keep mixing  and it will form a dough). Form dough into a cohesive ball with your hands.
5. If you find it too Crumbly, Sprinkle a little milk every now and then as you see fit. (Do not use more than the 2 tsp mentioned.). The dough should look like this.

6. Roll dough on a surface dusted with powdered sugar with a well-dusted rolling pin.
7. Cut into rounds and place on prepared baking sheets. Repeat as necessary.
8. Bake for 16-18 minutes, or until cookies are pale golden brown. Let cool on baking sheets.

Notes :

1. I did not have a baking tray at home then, so used a baking dish buttered up.
2. My oven and me are not on very good terms recently. While one batch turned out just right, the next batch, I had to stop baking before they turned that beautiful brown that I wanted.

Below are some star shaped cookies to please my 4 year olds.
