Chocolate Chip Cookies

"When we think of classic American desserts, we tend to imagine apple pie and ice cream. However, the most classic American dessert of all might be the chocolate chip cookie." - Homaro Cantu

Chocolate chip cookies are the new favorite in the family. When it comes to cookies and cakes, I think it is wise to just get to the recipe right away!!!

Ingredients :

Flour - 1 1/2 cups
Butter - 1/2 cup ( Unsalted , Room temperature)
Sugar - 6 Tablespoons
Light Brown Sugar - 1/2 cup tightly packed
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Egg - 1 - Large ( room temperature)
Vanilla Extract - 1 tsp
Baking soda - 1 tsp
Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
Maple syrup - 2 Tbsp
Chocolate chip cookies - 1 Cup

How to :

1. Line the baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside.
2. Sieve the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and keep aside.
3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar till it is smooth.
4. Add the egg and vanilla extract. To this, add the Maple syrup. Mix until combined.
5. Now add the flour and mix just until everything comes together.Do not overdo the mixing part.
6. Add the chocolate chips and mix till combined.
7. Refrigerate the batter for a minimum of 30 minutes.
8. Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
9. Scoop out the batter and drop them off into the prepared tray. Cookies expand on cooking, so give enough place between the dough.
10. Bake till the bottom and sides turn light brown in color. Small cookies take about 8-10 minutes and large ones about 10-12 minutes.
11. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes once they are done.

Notes :

1. Most of the recipes on the Internet use way more chips than I can get myself to add, so mine is on the bare minimum side. You could add another 1/4 cup to the above recipe. But that is the max I would recommend.
2.  Do not over mix. I have been there before, and you do not want to do it. But if you have already done it, do not worry. They will not look good, but still taste great.
