Paneer Tawa Masala

Paneer is my anytime 'Yes' ingredient. Be it a creamy curry or just grilled, I can never say No to Paneer.

Ingredients :


Paneer - 200 gms
Onion - 1 - Chopped fine
Tomato - 2 - Chopped fine
Ginger - 1 inch piece - Cut into thin strips
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Corriander-Cumin Powder- 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1/2 tsp
Green Chillies - slit - 2
Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Salt - per taste
Roasted Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tsp ( Optional)
Cream - 2 Tbsp (Adjust according to taste)

Saute the below in a pan in a tsp of oil till they sweat and keep aside.

Onion - 1 - Cut into cubes.
Capsicum - 1/2 of a big one - Cut into cubes


Marination :

Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Chaat Masala - 1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Kasoori Methi - Few strands crushed.

Cut the paneer into cubes and marinate the paneer pieces in all the above mentioned spices. Toss them together. Keep aside for 45 mins.

Method :


1. Heat oil in a Tawa or a pan.
2. Add the ajwain seeds and as they start spluttering, add the chopped ginger and green chillies.
3. To this add the finely chopped onions and saute till they turn brown.
4. Now add the chopped tomatoes and saute for a minute.
5. Add chilli powder, Turmeric powder and Coriander powder. Stir well and cover and cook on low flame till the oil rises to the top.
6. Now add the sauteed cubed onions and capsicum. Stir well.Add the Fennel Seeds now.
7. Cover and cook for a few minutes if you like the onions and capsicum to be well cooked.
8. Add the marinated paneer pieces to the gravy. Sprinkle the garam masala on the gravy.
9. Cover and cook on low flame for 7-8 minutes.
10. Add cream and give it a good stir.
11. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with rotis.
