Prawns Roast ( Kerala Style)

People from coastal areas have this special connection with seafood that other people do not. In our family, Prawns and Mussels hold a special place. All the sharing and caring stops when Prawns and Mussels are served.
Each of us try to eat as much as humanly possible and also guard whatever is on our plate with our lives.


Ingredients :


Prawns - 500 gms - Cleaned and deveined
Chilli Powder - 1 1/2 Tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Black Peppercorns - 1/2 tsp Crushed
Curry Leaves - 1 spring
Ginger - Chopped - 1 Inch piece
Kodampuli - 1 - Cleaned
Onion - 2 - Cut thin and long
Garlic - 6 Cloves - sliced
Coconut Oil - 3 Tbsp
Salt as needed


Method :


1. In a clay pot, add prawns,chilli powder, turmeric powder, Peppercorns, Curry leaves, Ginger, salt  and Kodampuli.Add 1 - 1 1/2 cups of water to this and cook on medium flame till the water has evapourated. The prawns will now be coated with the spice mixture.

2. Heat the coconut oil in a deep pan. Fry the onions and garlic until soft.

3. Add the cooked prawns to this and stir fry over low heat for 5 minutes, until the prawns are fried well.
